Trump is Extorting Money From Republican Candidates All Over the US

The latest scam punishes his own party members

This one almost slipped by in the news frenzy about his ongoing trial and juror selection issues. The Trump campaign announced that any Republican candidate for any office in the country that uses his image is required to give him 5% of any funds raised with that image.

It adds that higher amounts would be appreciated.

This comes on top of the recent news that the Trump controlled Republican National Committee (RNC) under Lara Trump wants all the funds they raise to go to Trump and his legal bills. Typically a national party committee spreads funds around to help down ticket candidates and build local organizations. Not this time.

The reality is that this looks unenforceable given the limited resources of the campaign, poor fundraising, and those enormous and growing legal bills. But it sends a clear message that he does not care about other Republicans and is perfectly willing to let them dangle while he collects every dime he can get.

First it was gold sneakers, then a country western themed Bible, and now a raid on the election funds of candidates all around the country. It needs to be pointed out that all of these scams directly target his own…
