The ‘People’s Convoy’ is a Joke

What, exactly, do they want?

10,000 people, at least, have died in Ukraine this past week. 1500 are still dying daily in the US from Covid. And I read about trucks and campers driving around DC, blocking traffic, and I have to ask, why? Something about mandates? Really?

I respect anyone’s right to protest. But it helps to have some clue to what they are protesting. This thing looks like a protest, but I have no clue what they are protesting. It actually looks like the organizers, who don’t seem too organized, just did it to get attention.

You briefly have my attention: now tell me what you have to say. Because there are people with real problems out there, life and death problems.

Like packing a rolley bag, grabbing your kids and walking hundreds of miles to escape a senseless war that has just destroyed everything you worked for.

Like the citizens of towns destroyed by huge tornados or super firestorms.

I mean, honestly, why are you driving in circles around the Capitol? Burning very expensive gas and wasting time when you could be delivering needed goods. You know, working? And making a living.

If I was in DC, and I met one of these protesters one on one, I’d have one question: why are you doing this? Tell me specifically. Any specific answer would be fine.

But, ‘because’ doesn’t cut it.

If they cannot give me a well-reasoned answer, even one I disagree with, I would have one response:

You’re being played. Suckered by some rumor monger who got you stirred up about an issue that no longer exists, or never did.

There is a lot of energy being used to keep that convoy moving. But, for what? It’s energy that could be used for measurable good. But it’s not. It’s just a bunch of people who are caught up in a movement based on nothing, or something imaginary.

At least it sure looks that way.

You may have heard the term sheeple- people who mindlessly follow the crowd, like sheep. Are you sheep? I’m pretty sure you are not. But if you are not, you need to take a moment and ask yourself what you are doing, why, and what you hope to accomplish. If you don’t have a very clear answer to that, you might want to reconsider your actions.

And then find something constructive to do, something that contributes to a better world, not just anger stirred up by people who do not give a shit about your life.

That life is short. Make it mean something, and know why. That’s all.
