As a species we inherited a world filled with fuels. Plant matters had been sequestering carbon for millions and millions of years. That carbon had gradually piled up in the ground in the form of oil, gas, and coal. A natural fertilizer, it encouraged the lush growth of plant life which, in turn, helped evolution create animal life…
