One recurring image I have with my practice is the metaphor of sailing through a session. Sometimes you’re fighting a headwind and every second takes an eternity. Other times the wind is at your back and you just cruise through. And sometimes you are becalmed and making no progress…

The headwinds are the ego defending itself by distracting you from simply watching thoughts and not being owned by them. I’ve actually laughed out loud during a session at some of the stuff it sends my way. Really, I suddenly have an itch on the top of my head?
