I think you are on to something, however the extreme academic approach and theorizing actually block the experience of your core ideas. I’d love to see a rewrite targeting non-academic writers, because this is idea of actualizing experience through description that ‘rings true’ is why his work still seems incredibly fresh. Description is often advised against, for good reasons, but those reasons may be because getting it right is incredibly difficult- and it can’t look difficult! The fight scene on the dock in Islands in the Stream, for example. I can feel the cruelty of every punch, the onlookers, the boats, the terrible feeling all watching it gradually develop.
