Forty Years of Consulting the I Ching
The relationship is personal, and often startling
The concept of an oracle is not one we see much in our technical society. When I think of an oracle, I am not thinking about a software company. I am thinking about a tattered book I’ve owned since my early twenties that has offered me pragmatic guidance through decisions where my own judgement was questionable.
When we are passionate about something new we are seldom clear-eyed. We indulge in a kind of hopeful wishful thinking that guides us rather then being logical about our wishes. It’s just human nature.
It might be something mundane. You meet someone and seem to click. You start to imagine how this will unfold. You minimize the downside and elaborate the upside. This might be a real thing, right?
What if you had a simple way to call yourself out and get down to your true gut feeling instead of your fantasy? That tattered book, an interpretation of an ancient text has been that check on my dreams, in a good way, for a very long time. You might say it is an old friend who never pulls their punches. Or the ultimate self-help book.
