Extreme Selfishness is a Pandemic of Its Own
And no one is developing a vaccine
Take a look at the last few weeks. A tornado a half mile wide traveled across three states, over 250 miles, destroying everything its path, including the entire town of Mayfield, Kentucky. In the suburbs around Boulder, Colorado, grass fires, fed by 120 mile an hour winds, destroyed nearly 1000 houses in hours.
Pick almost any week in 2021 and there is a weather story equivalent to these, somewhere in the US. This week, the first of the new year, saw hundreds trapped by snow for 24 hours or more on I95 in Virginia. And these are just American weather stories. We don’t hear about them much, but similar events are taking place all over the planet.
And over forty percent of Americans not only don’t give a damn, they don’t even believe these events are related.
The same 40% won’t get vaccinated against a deadly virus, despite the fact that it can save many lives and their own. It can protect their families, their friends, and their co-workers, with virtually no side effects beyond a day of discomfort.
But they won’t do it. They search online for justifications for their behavior and choices. And there are people feeding them stuff to use as excuses. And that is all there is, excuses for behaving irrationally…
